Happy 50th Anniversary Nana and Papa!!!

Yesterday we celebrated my Nana and Papa’s 50th wedding anniversary!  What an accomplishment.  The whole family was there and going at full volume!  Everyone enjoyed it except Caden who thought it was a little too loud for his liking.  He hasn’t had enough time to become acclimated to our family gatherings :)

Nana surprised Papa with a slideshow of their life together.  It was a huge hit and Papa said it was the best gift anyone ever gave him!  It was so fun to see all the old pictures!03

Our Thanksgiving Adventure

Caden gots billions of hugs and kisses during our day and a half Thanksgiving celebration.  Adam and I were talking about how much can change in a year.  Last Thanksgiving I didn’t even know I was pregnant and this Thanksgiving we have a smiling and cooing little boy!  Needless to say we feel tremendously blessed!!!  We started off the day by going down to my Dad’s house where Holly prepared a fabulous Thanksgiving spread.  Caden got to meet yet another set of great-grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Horn.  We were terrible about taking pictures, but here is what we did take…

The whole bunch…

Next we came back home to have Thanksgiving dinner at our house with my mom, her boyfriend John, his son Donovan, my sister Allie, and her husband Justin.  It was the first time I had ever hosted Thanksgiving.  I was soo excited!  I was feeling very prepared and proud of myself right up until my oven stopped working halfway through the turkey!!!!!  My first Thanksgiving of all times!!!  I called around and all my friends that live nearby were all away visiting their families.  Luckily my next door neighbors were home and graciously let me use their oven.  Kathy is a caterer so she even felt compelled to baste my turkey every 10 minutes for me!  Too sweet!!!  So right after everyone got there I brought home my turkey which I thought looked nice and golden brown.  After letting it rest I started to carve it under Allie’s expert direction (she cooked her first turkey last weekend).  It was still bloody!!!  We stuck it back in my oven which miraculously decided to work again for what seemed like forever.  Eventually we decided to just eat the breast which was cooked because the legs never finished cooking.  Once we got it out on the table (an hour late) my mom kept telling everyone to eat all they wanted that there was a whole turkey in there (which of course was not edible because it was still raw!)  Luckily we had plenty of food and the rest of the night went off without a hitch!  I didn’t take any pictures because I was cooking.  I don’t know what Adam’s excuse was!  :)  These are from my mom’s camera…

On Friday we went to The Nyholts because Liz had to deliver babies on Thanksgiving Day.  We had a great time visiting and had the largest variety of turkey choices I have ever seen!  Apparently Adam’s dad just kept picking up turkeys.  There was fried, smoked, and roasted!!!  Five turkeys in all!  He was about to put on a ham, but that is where Denise drew the line :)  Everything was delicious.

Sorry Liz, we may have set your baby plans back a few years…

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

Caden’s Third Month

This month I felt like Caden’s little personality is starting to surface.  By the end of the month he was really starting to smile and coo a lot which just melts my heart.  His favorite toy by far is his floor gym.  He is getting very good at batting all the toys and “dances” to the music.  It is adorable!  His is staring to put everything in his mouth, especially his hands and his lovies.  He sucks on his blankets and our clothes and our fingers….  Here are some of my favorites from the month.

Caden on his way to his first play date.  He didn’t play much but I enjoyed the company :)

Caden and I with Sara and Abigail.  He’s catching up!

Caden and Aunt Allie.  We took his paci out for the picture which explains the sad eyes

He wasn’t sure what he thought about KK kissing his little toes!

Everyone has a throne in their living room right?

He loves the dragonfly on the mobile.

Tummytime is always more fun with an audience.

His GG Mickler made him this outfit

I made this one look like it belonged on GG’s wall of old family pictures :)

It is hard to ride a giraffe when you can’t even sit yet!

Thats all for now…more to come…

Five Generation Photos

I am lucky enough to still have my great-grandmother, Mamoye, alive.  So that means that Caden has a great-great-grandmother!!!  What a lucky little boy!  These pictures were taken just a few weeks before Mamoye’s 99th birthday.  She was born in 1910!!!  Enjoy… :)
