Never Say Never!!!

We may have been born in the suburbs but we are inner loopers at heart.  I think we always will be.  Ever since Adam and I bought our first downtown loft we’ve swore we will NEVER move back to Clear Lake.  Everyone who knows us heard it ad nauseum.  We planned out our entire lives from our kids growing up playing at Discovery Green to the quaint little Heights bungalow we’ll grow old in.  We said didn’t care what it took we would NEVER go back to the suburban life and go on dates at Olive Garden and Chilis and live in a boring, personality-less brick house.   Well never say never…

Yes, I’m as shocked as you are to announce that we are moving back to the suburbs.  It turns out that no matter how stubbornly we cling to the perks of city life the most important things to us are in the suburbs- our family and the kind of fantastic friends you grow old with.  After driving multiple times a week up and down I-45 for years we had to ask ourselves some hard questions.  Of course having a 14 month old has altered our life view in dramatic ways.  Now I’m not so sure my little boy can learn to ride his bike down Heights Blvd or that I want him going to the school we are zoned to.  That combined with the fact that a 4,000 sqft brand new house with a giant yard is the same price as a run down 1,100 sqft Heights bungalow with out a yard and the allure of having as many babysitters as we could ever need pushed us over the edge.  So we’ve sold out and moved the family out of our awesome 110 yr old house (tear) for a brick thing in a col-de-sac with a yard zoned to a good school.  We move tomorrow.   I can’t help but be a little sad, but we definitely have some perks like a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and all the doors in the house shut!  Not to mention being less than 5 minutes from my best friends and 10 minutes from all our family.

That being said it will take a week to get internet at the new house so this is my last blog post for a bit.  Its not as if you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seats since August :)  Sorry, it’s been a CRAZY month!
