My life is officially over…
A few weeks ago I said that my life would be over when Caden learned to open doors. Well I’ve suspected he could for a few days but my fears were confirmed this morning. Adam and I were playing with Caden in his room when he opened his bedroom door and ran out. He returned a minute later with Adam’s toothbrush and toothpaste. He’s obsessed with teeth and brushing teeth. That meant he left his room went to ours, opened our bedroom door, opened our bathroom door, and stuck his little hand in the crack of the drawer before the baby safe latch caught and pulled out his loot. So three shut doors and a “baby-proofed” drawer can’t stop the little guy. And he is only 17 months! I’m exhausted even thinking about it!!!
Here are a few photos I snapped on my iPhone. Photo 1: Caden is having two conversations at once on his two play phones. I think he may be teleconferencing with himself
Photo 2: Our friends Chris and Suzie have this toy in pink at their house. Caden is obsessed with it. He found it on the shelf at ToysRUs, pulled down the box and tried his best to play with it. My mom was with me and bought this toy for her house. Photo 3: Two of Caden’s favorite things…a car with a door that opens and that crazy stuffed monkey KK has that he loves. Yes every time we go to ToysRUs the pink Barbie Jeep is his vehicle of choice

My little dancing boy…
Yesterday we had to go in to the Med Center for a check-up with the ENT about Caden’s ear tubes. We have been to the pediatrician twice in the last few weeks with a cold and she told me his tubes looked good. As of yesterday not so much. One is completely gone and healed over and the other is barely hanging on! Ugh! Not the news I wanted to hear since they have only been in 7.5 months and our insurance was practically useless in paying for them! The good news is that even though he has had a cold for a month he hasn’t gotten an ear infection in the ear with no tube. Last winter before the tubes he got an ear infection with every single runny nose. The doc thinks it is possible that he won’t need another set. I pray that is the case!
Poor Caden was as good of boy as he knows how to be after a 1.5 hour wait back in the exam room. He just couldn’t understand why he couldn’t just leave the room. Then Dr. Roy is always teaching other doctors which I am all for except when it means that we have to do the whole traumatizing stick things in his ear, nose and mouth twice! We finished with the interning doctor only to do the whole thing 5 minutes later with Dr. Roy! After our appointment I drove the good boy over to Hermann Park to ride the train. It was such a gorgeous day that I decided to stay out until traffic died down. We made arrangements to meet Adam in a few hours for dinner on this side of town. Caden ran around like a crazy man all over the park. Then we made good use of our zoo membership and he ran around the zoo for an hour. His little legs covered a lot of ground! The zoo is a lot more fun when I have no expectations and let Caden run the show. Who cares if the stairs and ramps leading to the exhibits are more fun than the actual animals. He thoroughly enjoyed himself
While we were at the zoo Caden ran over to a little boy his age in a cool stroller car and tried to shove him out of it. Of course I told him NO. Then he wanted to try to push it by the handles. Apparently the mom thought this was a better idea than the shoving and let Caden help her push the stroller down the ramp leaving the exhibit. Halfway down the ramp this happy song about the zoo came on out of a speaker right above our head. Caden froze, little go of the stroller and started dancing in the middle of the ramp. It was hysterical! I picked him up and danced around with him and he started singing. Its the first time I knew he was singing and it lasted the whole song. I loved it! He is starting to be a little chatterbox. We met Adam for dinner at Barnaby’s and I spent the whole evening wondering why the heck we moved out to suburbia. All of you suburbanites I love have 9 more months to convince me to stay
To end this long post are a few random pics…
Caden is a tool man! He has a tool bench that belonged to Aaron (Adam’s brother) which means it is almost 20 years old. Way to go Little Tikes! He got a power drill for Christmas after consistently playing with a cardboard one for at least 6 months. He still makes his own drill noise though. Actually all of his tools sound like a drill
He wore his tool belt to Bed Bath and Beyond the other day. It was loaded with his prize possessions: a wrench, matchbox car, and a paci. It was too cute! Here he is doing some work on his treehouse slide…

This is right before bed one night…the classic Caden face.

Have a fabulous day and check back soon for some pics from Christmas!
