Kid’s Rooms + Kennedy is almost here!

Hey, it’s Adam! First a little update. On Friday we visited Kacie’s doctor and she did not like what she saw. She decided to try to make it through the weekend, and then plan on delivering on Monday or Tuesday. Well Monday is here, and the doctor didn’t see any reason to put it off so we are delivering in just a few hours! We expected this so before we left home this morning we had bags packed for ourselves and Caden. Now Kacie is sleeping and while I wait I thought I’d blog some of the pictures I took of Caden’s room and Kennedy’s nursery. Kacie (with a lot of help from our moms) worked hard on these, and I think they’re pretty awesome. :)

First, Kennedy’s Room. We repainted Caden’s nursery furniture pink, and went with an own theme in the room. Kacie hand-made the curtains, crib-skirt, and quilt.

Kacie made these letters by hand!

This cradle is one that my dad made for my little brother many years ago. It’s similar to the he made for me as a baby, but somehow it didn’t survive….

And Caden’s room (or the “Jungle Suite”).

He and his friends LOVE the fort-bed.

Kacie hand-painted all of these leaves on every wall of the room!

And of course Caden loves the tent. He sleeps in it sometimes, but oddly he also really enjoys sleeping on the floor in front of his door.

Have a great day! Next time I post it will be with photos of baby Kennedy!

Oh Happy Day

Check out this adorable video of Caden and our friends little girl, Kaley, performing their own rendition of Oh Happy Day. You may remember Kaley from Caden’s birthday party dancing with him on the bubble wrap. They appear to be kindred spirits :)

Mr Opinionated

Caden’s language skills have really exploded and with it has come a new set of issues we are going to have to adapt to. Our sweet little two year old has become quite opinionated and very good at expressing what he wants. Two examples from the past few days…

Adam was putting Caden to bed a few nights ago and Caden wanted to watch TV instead. In the past we have told him that he can watch TV tomorrow and that pretty much is the end of the conversation. This particular night Caden wanted to make sure that Adam understood his demands. After a long monolog Adam got out that Caden wanted to watch two “cucks” (trucks) in the morning if he was going to go to bed right now. The “cuck” show is Bob the Builder which Caden discovered all by himself on my iPad by browsing through Netflix one morning while I got ready. I think it is annoying and the pumpkin head creature is creepy. I try to avoid watching it :)

Then tonight my mom was over helping with Caden while Adam worked. She had him bathed and was getting him ready for bed. He started asking for his fafi (paci) which is normal so she went downstairs to look for it. Then he looked at the green lovie he was holding threw it on the floor and yelled “KK! want blue lovie.” I didn’t even know he knew the difference between green and blue. We work on colors often but he rarely gives me any feedback that makes me think he knows his colors. She brought up the blue lovie and he happily grabbed it confirming that we heard correctly. Oh boy….

No pictures from me today…I can only do text on my iPad from bed but keep checking back for photos from our vacation to St. Thomas in June. Adam says he almost has them ready!

Mr. Mom – A guest post

Hey everyone, it’s Adam! With Kacie on bedrest and unable to use a computer very easily, I’m going to be guest posting for the next few weeks! We are less than 1 week into all of this, and already it is proving to be pretty difficult. Kacie is frustrated having to lay around all day, Caden is adjusting to having lots of people help take care of him, and I’m juggling the tasks of taking care of Kacie, Caden, the house, and my business! However, I am extremely thankful for our families and friends and the tremendous amount of help we’re receiving from them!

Here a few pictures from my very first few minutes of Mr. Mom duty. Literally, Kacie had just received the call to start bed rest, and I sat Caden down to paint in order to entertain himself. Well, entertain himself he did! He not only painted his wooden train, but he painted himself, the table (which I expected) and the chair he was sitting in!

And finally, here’s a little video I grabbed as well!

Wish us luck!!!

Baby Kennedy Update

I‘ve been struggling with blood pressure problems again this pregnancy like I did when I was pregnant with Caden.  Over the past few weeks my doctor and I have been increasing my medications trying to keep my blood pressure under control.  Unfortunately my body has other ideas and has not been responding as well as she would like.  This week I started seeing a specialist.

I had two ultrasounds this week.  The good news is that Baby Kennedy is looking great.  She is a big girl weighing 4 lbs 14 oz at almost 33 weeks.  A normal weight would be around 4 lbs and having blood pressure problems even smaller could be expected.  From the ultrasound she looks to have big chubby cheeks, some hair, and what looks to be full pouty lips like Caden had as a newborn.  We can’t wait to meet her!!!

The bad news is that I have been put on bed rest until delivery :(  They are watching me very closely for signs of preeclampsia which I had with Caden and is more dangerous to me and the baby.  I am having a bunch of tests runs so I will know more on Tuesday.  Either way it looks like we are going to have another early baby!  Please be praying for my health and Baby Kennedy’s and that we make it to full term (just 4 more weeks!)

Here is a sneak preview of her sweet little face…
