Kennedy is 5 Months!
It is impossible to believe that baby Kennedy is already 5 months old! She is growing so fast and changing so much! At 4 months and a week she started rolling over from her back to her stomach. Now just three weeks later she is rolling around like a crazy lady
She starts on her back, sees something interesting, rolls to her stomach, picks her head up and looks around, then keeps on rolling…It is super cute. She loves to lay on her stomach next to Caden and watch him play. He is usually a patient big brother and teaches her about whatever toy he is playing with. Occasionally she tries to grab whatever he is playing with which upsets him. I guess she can play as long as he is in control
A few weeks ago she was laying next to him and touched him and he started whining “Mom, she touched me!” As she gets more mobile and more coordinated I’m sure I’m going to have my hands full.
Kennedy is also so close to being able to sit on her own. She sits in my lap with out her back touching me and can keep her balance for a few seconds when she is sitting on the floor. A few more weeks and she’ll be a pro. We pulled out Caden’s walker and she LOVES it. At first I think she was a little confused as to how she moved across the room but now she has the hang of it. She walks around the kitchen just grinning. If she gets bored she just leaves and goes in the other room. This morning I found her exploring under the dining room table. Caden loves to push her around which as long as it is done gently and not at racing speeds she enjoys. This has helped a lot with me being able to work in the kitchen since most of the toys are upstairs. Her other favorite toy is the bouncer. She knows what all the little toys do and she alternates jumping, marching, and flinging herself side to side. I’ve noticed she can entertain herself much longer per toy than Caden could at this age. Maybe because she is a girl or maybe because she also has a crazy big brother to watch.
At her 4 month check up she weighed 14 lbs 10 oz which was 60th percentile and was 26 1/4 inches tall which was 95th percentile. We went in for a follow up today (she had an ear infection a few weeks ago) and she weighs 16 lbs 7 oz! Two pounds in a month! I’ve started giving her some baby food. We started with butternut squash and she acts like she likes it but still spits most of it out. Hopefully soon she’ll get the hang of eating
Kennedy has the sweetest little personality. She has this giant grin that she freely gives and she giggles when she thinks something is funny. She also talks making all kinds of gurgles and coos. I LOVE it! She is generally good natured although she will let you know (via an ear shattering scream) when she is unhappy with something. Usually this means she is hungry or wants to change activity. Caden has taken to replicating this scream when he gets frustrated which makes me want to scream too. She is still consistently sleeping through the night usually 11-12 hours! She occasionally wakes up hungry in the early morning but then if I feed her she will sleep in extra late. I am completely convinced that some children just sleep while others don’t. Caden, my non sleeper, on the other hand still gets up in the night a few times a week wanting milk or a lost paci or something and at best sleeps 9-10 hours. I don’t think he has ever slept 12 hours in his life! Whatever the reason I am thankful this sweet little girl sleeps!
Here are a few of my favorite photos from this month…
She LOVES being mobile!
This girl has got some big blue! I hope they stay this color!
