Our trips to the zoo
Caden LOVES the zoo. He knows the names of all the animals and the sounds they make. He often asks me if we can go to the zoo today. We have been to the zoo 4 times already this year, which is impressive since he was sick for 3 weeks. I figure we should get as many trips in as we can before the 100 degree weather gets here. I kept meaning to blog after each trip but I haven’t so they are getting combined into one big post.
KK came with us on our first trip. Adam shot a wedding in Mexico so she came over and spent the night with me and the kids and then we went to the zoo the next day. It was a gorgeous day and we had a ton of fun. She is riding the Merry Go Round with Caden. That thing makes me nauseous
This is his new cheesy smile. He looks so much like pictures of Adam as a kid!!!
No trip is complete with out getting your picture taken as a gorilla
A ride on the train around Hermann Park
On this trip Daddy met us which was super fun. Adam had to go in for a meeting on his day off, so the kids and I headed into town also. Looking back through the pictures it is obvious Adam was manning the camera because he isn’t in any of the shots. Sad…
We always bring our lunch and often times some of Caden’s zoo animals jump in his lunch box so they can go with us

Caden is obsessed with feeding the giraffes, and who wouldn’t be! It bothers me that it costs $5 for three pieces of lettuce, but we have a membership that has long since paid for itself so we almost always do it. We have a frequent giraffe feeding card. I kid you not
This past trip Caden brought a dollar from his piggy bank to feed the giraffe. He gladly handed over his money but then was upset later when he didn’t get it back. Life lessons…
Just last week we went with Julie (Adam’s cousin) and her two little boys, Aaron and Austin. Aaron and Caden are the same age and Austin is just 6 months older than Kennedy. The boys were super cute and man did they wear themselves out. Caden was sound asleep before we even made it onto the freeway!
I bought a used double stroller not really expecting to ever use it. Man am I glad I did! Caden loves to ride, which is odd since at a year he started refusing to ride in his stroller. Kennedy is now old enough to sit in the stroller like a big girl which she loves.
My big girl sitting up in the stroller with her dolly
They walked around the zoo holding hands when they weren’t running like crazy people or hugging and pushing each other over
No trip is complete without Caden jumping off of something!
Or playing the drums on our way to feed the “raffs”
I love these two of Austin and Kennedy. This happened totally spontaneously. Austin started touching her and looking at her and she was just grinning and laughing. It was such a sweet moment.
Gotta love our chimpanzee exhibit where the kids can get inches from the animals! Caden just sits and stares at them and a lot of times they stare straight into his eyes. Its amazing!
Fun at the Park
Thursday was a beautiful day. I’d say spring but 84 seems a little warm for February which shouldn’t even be spring anyway. Oh well, it was a beautiful evening so Adam and I decided to take the kids to the park. Caden was a maniac, running and jumping and yelling. He gets WAY more excited when Daddy gets to come play. He was really showing off. Here are some pictures we snapped.
The first two of Kennedy I took at the house before we left…I couldn’t help but sharing
Caden has some serious climbing skills for a 2 yr old!
Daddy was chasing him…
Check back soon to hear about our trip to the zoo…
