Bluebonnets!
We spent Easter weekend up in Horseshoe Bay north of Austin at my Dad’s lakehouse. It was a really fun weekend (pics coming soon). While we were there we took some pics of the kids in the bluebonnets near their house. I don’t think Adam quite gets the obsession with bluebonnet pics but I was very persuasive. I can remember doing this as a kid and being very cautious not to touch the bluebonnets so I didn’t go the jail
We had a rocky start when Caden sat on the only cactus in sight. He started yelling “there’s a stick in my butt mom” which I’m ashamed to say I couldn’t help but laugh at. Overall I’m really happy with the way they turned out. Kennedy is sitting so well on her own now that getting a decent photo of the kids together is finally possible. And I can never have to many pictures of my sweeties together! They are growing up soo fast!!!

When I saw this pic I couldn’t believe how long Kennedy is!

I think he was being a monster in the field…

Caden’s cheese face

Kennedy may have eaten a few bluebonnets

Spring Break on the Water

Kennedy is Six Months!
Time is just flying by! I can’t believe my sweet pea is 6 months already! She has changed so much this month. At the beginning of the month she learned to sit and now a few weeks later she is a sitting pro. When she starts to lose her balance she quickly grabs her feet until she stabilizes which I of course think is brilliant
She is also just starting to scoot. A few days ago I she scooted over ten feet to look through the stair railing. She is assuming crawling position up on all fours easily now so I’d be suprised if she isnt crawling well by the end of this month. This would put her crawling even earlier than her brother did. Oh boy!!!
Moving is very important to Kennedy. She throws enormous fits and you would be sure something terrible is wrong with her and then you set her down on the ground with toys or put her in her walker and she is instantly grinning at you and blowing bubbles. Little stinker! She LOVES her walker and is incredibly fast. Our house is big and has so little furniture that she can get up some serious speed on the wood downstairs. She is super independent. She will wander off in to other rooms to explore. If someone comes in the door she will run towards them from whatever room she is in. She also enjoys chasing/terrorizing her brother. Of course she has no ill intent she just wants to touch him and maybe use him as a teether
It cracks me up that Caden gets so upset over Kennedy “getting him” and touching him. I keep telling him to climb on the couch or go up the stairs but he doesnt. He just sits in the floor with Kennedy running into him whining. I think he secretly likes the attention
Kennedy still has a sweet temperament and freely gives huge grins and giggles. She was sick her whole 6th month with a cold that turned into ears, another cold, unresolved ear infection that required a second round of anitbiotics, a virus with a really high fever, and then thrush again. Between the two kids I have been to the pediatrician 18 times in 2012 already! Considering she was sick she is really a good sport. She is no longer sleeping through the night and hasn’t since she was 4 months. We have had so many sicknesses I’m afraid that she isn’t going to any time soon
She is starting it swallow some baby food. She is an absolute expert at spitting it out. Right now she will tolerate carrots, squash, sweet potatoes and green beans. I’m hoping that soon she will really get the hang of eating.
At her 6 month check up she was 27 1/4″ tall (88%) and weighed 17lbs 11oz (74%). She is too tall now for most of her 9 month clothes and some of her 6-12 month. She really is growing like a weed! The goal is to double or triple your birth weight by a year. She has almost tripled at 6 months! Other than normal kid sickness she is a hearty healthy little girl.
The goal was to swallow as little food as possible…
I love her pointy little tongue
The Easter Story According to Caden
We were driving in the car today when Caden started telling me the story of Easter. Here is how it went…
“Jesus died on a cross. He got boo boos on his fingers. He was born in a barn with two cows. His mom was Mary. He was a baby then, but now he grew up. Then he was walking on the street when he saw a boat and a big fish. It was a pirate ship. The fish ate him. GULP. But he was okay. He told the storm to calm and the waves stopped. Jesus was wrapped up in a tomb (hand motions wrapping up his hand). Then he was risen.”
So maybe we have a few Bible stories mixed in there but the overall idea is pretty good I think
